Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, including the inconvenient ones.

If a question deserves "it depends," you will find the honest version of why, and what it depends on.

What services does Thunderbird Elevator provide?

Preventive maintenance, elevator repair, and elevator modernization for commercial properties.

What types of buildings do you serve?

Commercial properties: office buildings, multifamily and condominium communities, healthcare and education facilities, hotels, retail and mixed-use, municipal buildings, and industrial or parking structures.

Do you work on my building's brand of elevator?

Independent service companies routinely maintain equipment from major manufacturers. Whether a specific unit is a good fit depends on its controller generation and parts situation, which is exactly what an initial equipment review establishes. Bring the manufacturer and approximate age to the conversation and you will get a straight answer.

What happens after I submit a service request?

The service team reviews the request and follows up using the contact details you gave us. Submitting the form doesn't dispatch a technician, and requested dates are not confirmed until someone responds.

Someone is stuck in an elevator. What should I do?

Use the emergency communication system inside the car and contact local emergency services if anyone is in danger. Do not try to force doors open or help anyone climb out; wait for trained responders. A website form is never the right channel for an entrapment.

What does a maintenance agreement typically cover?

Agreements vary widely in visit frequency, what parts are included, and how repairs are priced, which is why reading the actual terms matters. Reviewing a current or proposed agreement and explaining it in plain language is a normal part of how this company works with property teams. How pricing works.

How do I know if my elevator needs modernization rather than another repair?

Age alone doesn't decide it. Recurring shutdowns, obsolete parts, door problems that keep returning, and inspection items that keep getting deferred are the usual signals. An equipment assessment looks at condition and history and lays out the options with costs and tradeoffs.

How long does a modernization take?

It depends on scope, the number of units, and component lead times, so an honest answer has to come from a specific proposal. Planning conversations usually start months before work begins, mostly because of procurement.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency service?

For urgent equipment issues at any hour, call the dispatch line at (214) 225-4577.

How is pricing handled?

Maintenance is quoted per property based on the equipment and the agreement scope. Repairs are priced from diagnosis. Modernization is proposed per project. Published one-size-fits-all pricing wouldn't be honest about how this work actually gets scoped. How pricing works.
